Serving as a platform for the rebuilders of Detroit, Practice·Space functions as a collaborative workspace and residency program, operating at the intersection of architecture, business, and storytelling. The build-out of the project was completed in 1.5 months with a limited budget. The adaptive reuse of Joe's Garage, a historic gas station / auto body shop, embraced the existing raw nature of the industrial space by drawing clear contrast between the newly constructed and existing. A limited palette of horizontally stacked plywood, tube steel, and polycarbonate panel were employed to create a cohesive language for the newly built spaces.
